Description

Mrs. Anderson's 9-1/2 x 10-inch pie crust shield prevents crust from burning during baking. Golden pie crust every time!

No pie ever baked has cooked uniformly around the edges, so bakers everywhere reach for the aluminum foil to place little shields around the edges to keep them from burning. If you're like me, your foil falls off, or is too thick in some places and too thin in others, causing uneven browning. This pie crust shield effortlessly saves the day. Just place the shield over the pie before you slip it in the oven and leave it on the whole time--that's it. The aluminum ring slips right over frozen or homemade pies that are from 9-1/2 to 10 inches in diameter and encourages them to rise in the middle, reducing spillage from the sides. Durable and reusable, it's also dishwasher-safe. --Doree Armstrong

We bought this tent based on reviews and were not disappointed. We used it for our family of 4, our dog, and a lot of extra gear that we didn’t even need. There is a lot of extra room in this tent, and I’d say it can sleep 6 very comfortably, and 8 if you don’t have any gear in the tent with you. There is the potential for 2 “rooms” in the tent via a partition that clips in place in the middle of the tent, with a zipper down the center. We didn’t use the partition, as our children are young and wouldn’t stay on their side anyway. There is a neat little zipper in the rear of the tent for an electrical cord access, which we did use from our campsite.

There was plenty of headroom, and I could easily stand up in the tent and walk from end to end without ducking, and I’m 5′ 10″. With all the windows open, there is a LOT of airflow, and ventilation was not a problem during the day when it was hot. The only thing we experienced that we didn’t expect was that night the temp dropped into the 30’s, and with only 4 people in the tent and so many cubic feet of airspace, it got pretty chilly in there, even with all the windows up. (Keep in mind that we didn’t pack for cold weather.)

Setup was a snap, and directions are printed on a sheet sewn into the inside of the bag so you won’t lose it. I set up the tent to inspect it after I received it, and it took about 30 minutes with me really taking my time. Second attempt on the campsite, the directions were unnecessary as the setup was simple, and it took only 15 minutes with help only for draping the rainfly over the large tent.

In short, I would recommend this family tent without reservation, and look forward to having many camping trips with family and friends in it.

I bought this tent to replace one that had been heavily damaged in a wind storm. My husband and I camp often with our two dogs. When I first read the directions I was a bit worried; however, once we had all the parts out it was super easy to set up. We didn’t even need the directions for the second setup. The tent is huge and you can stand up throughout it. We put it to the test the first night as we had 30 mph wind gusts. We didn’t know the wind was coming so we had to get up in the middle of the night and add more stakes. The guy ties don’t necessarily help stabilize the tent from wind as much as they stretch the tent out to prevent rain from collecting and dripping in. The zipper on the door did stick a couple times but was easily fixed with a careful tug which did not damage the fabric or zipper. The only problem we had was when packing it away the second time, we were trying to cram it in the carrying bag and the zipper popped. No big deal though, since I had a duffle bag that the contents fit in and now we don’t have to worry about folding it up so tight. I plan to have this tent for many years and think it is a great investment.

I purchased this tent for a scouting camping trip for a family of four (in Florida in early spring) after reading the previous reviews on this tent as well as some additional research which recommended taking the number of people that it says it holds and divide by 2 which will give you the actual number of people it will sleep comfortably with some gear. I recommend that everyone follow this formula as it held true. Now for the actual tent review:

The good

- Setup was easy and very quick, especially when a second person was helping which was necessary on this trip as it started to rain partway through setup (I recommend doing a test run prior to your first trip as it gets you familiar with the setup process and if you are forced to set it up under an unusual circumstance such as rain or night, you know what you are doing and don’t need to stop and read each step)

- The tent was a good size inside enabling us to hold a queen airmattress and two twin airmattresses for the kids as well as four small suitcases. We were very comfortable sleeping with all this in the tent

- The one night we actually camped (had to break camp due to threat of thunderstorms) it rained continuously and we had 20-25 MPH winds blowing on the tent. It was solid with no leaks and never felt like the tent was going to blow over.

The bad

- The instructions lack one key element with setting up of the center poles that they should go throught the two loops located on either side of the tent. The practice run helped identify this missing item from the instructions.

- Definitely need to have the side vents open and some type of circulation (we had the coleman fan which works well) in warmer weather as it traps heat very well which is good for colder weather but not warmer weather.

- No egress overhang over the doors which I wish Coleman would add to this tent (although it would then make it too much like the Montana) but I knew this going in so I really can’t deduct for this but just want to point it out to everyone.

I definitely recommend this tent, especially if you will be camping in cooler and potentially inclement weather.

I received this tent as a Father’s Day present. We used it that night in our field.

It worked great! I am 6′4″ tall and could move around the tent quite easily. I love the mesh roof, although the morning dew does allow for one to awake a bit wet in the morning. I am guessing the rain fly will need to be used 100% of the time.

This will be a shame though. Because it really is neat to sleep on one’s back and get to watch the stars. The ventilation is fantastic and you really do feel as you are in the outdoors and not stuck in a tent.

Nice tent. I am extremely pleased!

I didn’t spray any sealant on the tent and it worked great in high winds and DRIVING rain. 1 or 2 drops max. Super impressed. It has plenty of room for a family of 4 with gear. Also, it went up pretty easy. I put it with with my 11 year old son. It took about 40 minutes the 1st time. We got it down to about 20 minutes. The instructions are not great, but it’s not rocket science. Oh, it’s also got good ventilation. Camped during hot days, no problem. Not sure what it’s like in the cold. Zero buyers remorse.
