Great Tent!! It was extremely EASY to set up, offered plenty of space and was well ventilated. Im reviewing this as someone who may go camping 2-3 times a year. It served its purpose and I received a lot of compliment toward the tent from people who had a tent that said 4 people but barely fit two!! Best thing about the tent other than the price, was that I (6′0) was able to stand inside the tent and not have to be hunched over.

We camped with this tent for the first time about a month ago. We weren’t supposed to get any rain, but we had a HUGE thunder and lightening storm. Through out the night our tent swayed a good 2 feet back and forth. The rain was blowing everywhere. We zipped up the windows, but left the 2 floor vents open part way. We may have gotten 2 tablespoons of water in the tent. The tent held up beautifully. I was really impressed. I also love that it’s so easy to set up. I was a little worried about the fact that the rain fly is so small. On my old tent the rain fly went all the way to the ground, on all sides. But, I’m totally sold on this tent after that storm.

We needed a family tent and my Bf and I researched and researched until we finally decided on this one. We received the package quickly and set it up right away to ensure all pieces were there. Right off the bat we both loved the tent due to the high ceilings. My bf is 6 foot and was able to walk around comfortably throughout the whole tent. This tent has an easy set up (less than 5 minutes with 2 people.) Lots of room, this could fit 2 queen mattress’s easily. We fit a Queen and a twin and had lots of room to spare. Well made/good quality. We LOVE this tent, but the reason Im not giving it 5 stars is because it needs to be staked in or the structure won’t hold and therefore rules out camping in the sand.

I recently purchased a St. Alban family dome tent from Amazon. My family and I are avid campers, and like the height of this tent as well as the canopy feature. However when we used it for the first time this past week, we found the ground stakes that are provided with the tent to be insufficient on windy days. A thunderstorm blew up while we were camping, and the wind lifted the rain fly and the ground stakes with it. Since the support poles are connected to the rain fly via hooks and velcro, they were also lifted off of the support pins at the base of the tent. So the entire tent collapsed with all of our belongings in it. We quickly moved everything to our vehicle before it could get soaked. We have camped in this area many times before with other tents, and experienced similar storms without a tent collapse. There is no question in my mind that had the tent stakes been longer, we would not have had this experience.

I contacted Wenger and was told that the tent “is not designed for use in inclimate weather”. When I asked them to clarify, they indicated that the tent “can be used in areas where thunderstorms occur they are just not made to be used in the middle of a thunderstorm”. I guess you’re supposed to take it down before the storm and put it back up after the storm passes! They also suggested I buy longer tent stakes. Needless to say I was not impressed with their reply. I like pretty much everything else about the tent. But given the collapse and Wenger’s unsat reply, I decided on 3 stars. My advice: If you buy this tent, plan to spend a few bucks on more substantial tent stakes.
